Spent last night at Terranea, which is next door to the Trump National Los Angeles golf course. My wife, Amber, and I met up with Phil and his friend Vinny. Phil and Vinny are both very good golfers and we spent 6 holes playing 18 holes at Trump. This course is under construction and due to the California mandates against water usage, there was not a lot of well-taken greens and the waterfalls were also under construction. Regardless, it was perfect weather and we had an amazing time followed by a tasting by the Executive Chef of Terranea. 9,794 remain. Random stat: Today was the first time Amber and I played 18 holes together, whereby she scored 105 and I broke 100 for the first time with a Continue Reading …

Today was the first day I got to use my new golf clubs on a course and I also had Golf Galaxy’s golf-smith add 10 wraps at the top of my grip and 2 at the bottom to make it even throughout; this leaves me a lot less impact-feeling when I hit the ground, and this will help a lot with my hands having less pain. I flew to Orange County and met up with my friend, Phil, to play 18 holes at Pelican Hill. It was a beautiful day of golf on an amazing course. We played on the South Course, which is on the ocean. 9,700 remain. Random stat: This was the longest 2-some play I’ve played, where we played about 6 hours. Continue Reading …

I’m taking time off golf as I’ve been having a bit of joint pain in the hands causing difficulty in opening and closing them when I first wake up so I’m giving them rest and considering getting extra wraps of tape around my grip. My wife, Amber, gave me anti-ripper fit grip gloves to use when practicing my swing in the gym with trainer clubs as well. I’m considering copying Dan McLaughlin’s 8-wrap grip or get closer to Bubba Watson’s giant 10+ wrap grip. Continue Reading …

I started the day with Vic focusing on my swing using my new clubs that came in the mail today. I focused on the 8-iron and then spent extra time focusing on my swing with Dongki. I had a lot of difficulty. Afterwards, I went to Go Low and practiced getting a few critiques from Dan Gattis and then did a round of 18 virtual holes. 9,706 remain. Random stat: My driver distance on average is definitely going farther as I have been practicing with it a lot more with a few times going over 200 yards in distance Continue Reading …

Dongki thought I was going out of town so we were not able to meet up today, but that gave me plenty of time to relax and it was a much needed break. After a spa with Amber at Massage Envy, I sent to Go Low to practice with Dan Gattis using the driver for a couple hours. It was good to have my swing critiqued. 9,713 remain. Random stat: My driver hits the ball a lot farther on average with some balls going over 180 yards. Continue Reading …

I woke up today to train with Dongki after doing the requested 100 side to side swings of the body from left to right to practice rotation of my body and increase flexibility because it is supposed to avoid all injuries if I do this daily. Dongki had me focus on the 3 main moves of wristing, chopping, and jumping. He had me do exercises where I jump on a box and swing in the air. Also he had me holding on to a cord and practicing back swing. And we finished with doing that, but with balancing on a ball. I went home and spent additional time practicing my grip and wing. 9,715 remain. Random stat: My body was more tired than usual today and had less energy than average so I may need to eat Continue Reading …

Spent a couple hours in the morning at the gym and worked with Dongki on y swing. He especially critiqued my back-swing because he said that I could go back at the same distance and speed with all clubs and each club would naturally swing down at different speeds based on the length of each club. Afterwards, Greg and I went to Southern Highlands Golf Club and played a round of 18 holes. It was awesome weather in the 70’s and 80’s. We had a caddie named Brian who helped as well. It’s a beautiful course and we had amazing play after a quick breakfast and watching the 18th hole of the British Open. I missed playing outdoors so much because of the heat and it was amazing to play in such a Continue Reading …

I woke up early to play 18 holes at South Shore Golf Club on Lake Las Vegas. It’s a beautiful course with some crazy chasms to hit over. 9,723 remain. Random stat: I got a 108 and Greg got a 81 from the white tees, which is the second closest tee instead of the closest tee that I usually play. Continue Reading …

Today, I had the gameplan of Hunter’s to do an exercise that he had to do on Saturdays while on the high school golf team: play 30 minutes with each of the 14 clubs in his bag for 7 hours. My plans changed. I started with putting at Canyon Gate Country Club and then I headed to Go Low to practice pitching and chipping, and I renewed my membership, but I got interrupted by business phone calls; then, I headed to Southern Highlands Country Club to do a tour of the course. It’s very nice and the fanciest overall club with a spa and cottages you can rent. After getting a haircut, I went to Taylormade Experience with Greg and played 9 holes. 9,727 remain. Random stat: Got par on 2 holes today Continue Reading …
