I woke up early at 7am to head over to the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) in Oceanside, where I did a fitting with a guy named Dino Antenucci (and I also saw the famous Bob Vokey – the club designer for Titleist and he offers a Vokey Experience fitting and even custom creates clubs for you, which I’d like to do in the future after I get good with my first set of custom clubs using my data fro today). We worked on the trackman to track my speed and spin using the driver, 8-iron, 5-iron, 3-wood, and 5-wood. I was told that my clubs were about 1.5 inches too long, could use a thicker grip (ie 3 tapes instead of the standard 1 to help my hands have more cushion), and I got adjusted heads so that I would have less spin. I typically have a very high spin of over 6000 vs the desired 2000-3000. My sand-wedges were also analyzed and I did my best with them. Afterwards, I received a sheet with all the different club analysis created so that I can use it to order clubs from a local golf store (ie Golf Galaxy – which also offers free fittings as an additional gift if I order clubs). Here are the results from my fitting for my right-handed clubs:

Afterwards, I went to Coto de Caza Golf Club to meet with Dan McLaughlin of the Dan Plan and we played 18 holes together. It was a great time and he is the best player I’ve seen play and the inspiration for the creation of this blog so it was pretty cool. We played the North course. Afterwards, we hung out with our significant others at the St. Regis main restaurant, Stonehill Tavern, before flying back to Las Vegas. When I got home, I practiced doing some additional swings with a PVC pipe as per the request of Dongki. 9,733 remain. Random stat: I got 1 par during my play today on the North Course, and shot a 126 from the white tees and Dan got a 88 from the blue tees (and he did amazing considering the fact that he still has his back injury); my handicap is still a 32.7 for July 1/15 because I didn’t play enough rounds of 18 holes due to the summer heat convincing me to do more in-door range practice and a lot of 9 hole play.
